The industries under this conglomerate include foods and beverages, steel, real estate, furniture, agribusiness, plastics, etc. Its 2015-2016 turnover amounted to approximately US$5 billion. Partex Group is the largest family-run conglomerate in Bangladesh, consisting of over 55 companies.

History
It started in 1959, by industrialist MA Hashem with tobacco trading. Now it owns over 55 subsidiaries from tobacco to consumer goods, furniture, textile and the IT sector. It has split into two groups to improve management of its subsidiaries - Partex Holdings and Partex Star Group.
Partex's companies are market leaders in nearly all sectors, including food and beverages, plastics, fabrics, cotton, sugar, paper, jute, shipping, furniture, real estate, media, education, services, IT, and many more. The towering heights reached by the group has been possible due to M. A. Hashem's missionary zeal and unflinching commitment to quality and ethics.
Guided by his visionary's dream, backed by an inexhaustible repository of efforts, Partex Group has grown into one of the most influential conglomerates in Bangladesh today.
M. A. Hashem is also one of the pioneers of the birth and growth of private banks and insurance companies in Bangladesh. He founded two of the largest private banks in Bangladesh - The City Bank Limited and UCBL.
Having come from a modest background himself, M.A Hashem is also a philanthropist. He has a school and hospital under his name, both of which are non-profit organizations.
