One Workplace is a commercial office furniture dealership in Northern California. It is headquartered in Santa Clara, California and has regional offices in Oakland, California and San Francisco, California. One Workplace sells office cubicles, chairs, desks, tables, movable walls, office accessories, storage cabinets, whiteboards, and audiovisual systems. It is a privately held company.

History

One Workplace opened in 1925 in downtown San Jose, California as a family-owned bookstore. Its original name was Lindsay's. Soon the company began to sell office supplies. When the Ferrari family purchased partial ownership, its name became Lindsay Ferrari and the company transitioned to selling office furniture. The Ferrari's acquired complete ownership of Lindsay Ferrari and the company's name became One Workplace.

Partnerships

As a commercial office furniture dealer, One Workplace represents over 300 furniture manufacturers. Its biggest partnership is with Steelcase, the world's largest office furniture manufacturer. Through this partnership, One Workplace is the only Steelcase dealer in the Bay Area metropolitan region.

One Workplace works with a variety of vertical markets, including education, healthcare, corporate offices, government, bioscience, and financial institutions. In November 2008, the company launched two separate divisions: Synergy 4 Health and Architectural Environments. Synergy 4 Health focuses on the healthcare sector and Architectural Environments sells movable walls, floors, lighting, and acoustical treatments.

Sustainability

The company has launched several environmental initiatives as a way to offset corporations' impact on the environment. One Workplace works with their customers to recycle, refurbish, and reuse office furniture and electronic equipment. Some of the furniture that they sell has been certified by third-party organizations to be environmentally friendly.
One Workplace offers products that have been certified by SCS Global Services (SCS Indoor Advantage and SCS Indoor Advantage Gold) and the McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry (Cradle to Cradle) Another sustainability initiative at One Workplace is to help customers achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) status. Buildings with this certification are recognized as practicing sound environmental practices. One Workplace has employees on staff who are LEED accredited and who can help customers reach this goal.
